As we reached the summit of the Beehive Trail in Acadia National Park near Bar Harbor, ME, I noticed this incredibly interesting structure on a lonely island in the middle of the Gulf of Maine. Is this a lighthouse? Is this a residence?

Once we made it to the top of the Beehive Trail in Acadia National Park, we were met by this unlikely traveling companion.
