Photo Every Day 2025

Can you believe this truck used to be a rusty, rough looking, dark hunter / forest green color? It was pretty ugly. It is super cool, now!
This truck used to be my dad’s. I remember sitting in it for hours on end when I was a child, pretending to drive and being so amazed by the 8-track cassette player on the dash. I remember popping the clutch and shifting gears in that old truck like I was driving in the NASCAR truck series, driving well over 100 miles per hour (in my mind, at least).
I wonder how many hours I spent, as a child, sitting in the driver’s seat of that old truck with its four flat tires and ancient engine (that probably wouldn’t have started even if I had access to the keys and any idea how to crank the ignition). That rusty, dusty green truck took me all across the country (in my mind) while never moving an inch.
Several years ago this old truck got a new owner—my oldest brother, Dave. He had a plan and a vision to restore it into what it is today. It really is a sight to behold!
They just don’t make trucks like this, anymore. That’s too bad. This thing is not only functional, but it is truly a work of art. My photo really doesn’t do it justice.
Yesterday at my niece’s wedding, while we were playing music, my niece was driven to the aisle in this old truck. My brother, her dad, drove her to the aisle, stopped the truck, went around to open her door and let her out (like a gentleman should), and then proudly walked her down the aisle to the altar, where she pledged her life and love to her now husband.
It was a really cool moment, packed full of way more meaning than many people probably realized. And that’s okay. I suppose much of life is that way… packed full of way more meaning than most of us realize in the moment.
One of the songs that we played for the wedding was Way Maker. The bridge of that song says:
Even when I don’t see it, You’re working. Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working.
Yep. That sounds about right.
