D•Con 2025

The final session of the Sonlife Disciple-Making Conference is one that I will remember for a long, long time. I don’t remember which songs we led. I don’t remember the announcements that were made. I remember the message.

It was Doug Holliday’s last message while serving as the President of Sonlife. While the message was certainly helpful to the audience, it wasn’t exactly a message for the audience. It was a message meant for his team, his disciples.

In a way, I imagine Doug felt something like what Jesus was feeling as He was in his final hours of life on earth, as recorded in the pages of John 13, 14, and 15. Jesus knew that He would be moving on and the disciples would have to figure things out on their own, without Him (though not without His Spirit).

In that moment, Jesus had a powerful, intimate, important message for His disciples.

In the last session at the Sonlife Disciple-Making Conference, Doug had a powerful, intimate, important message for his team.

Doug has been a good and faithful leader of Sonlife. He will not be the leader of Sonlife any longer.

He has also been a really great partner in the gospel and friend. I am hopeful that partnership will never come to an end, and the friendship, I am certain, will last beyond this life and continue on into eternity.
