D•Con 2025
One of the coolest moments of the Sonlife Disciple-Making Conference happened in the last session. Doug Holliday, who had been serving as President of Sonlife for the past decade was interviewing Dann Spader, who founded Sonlife in 1978.
Here is how Doug described this special moment on stage:
I asked Dann to share the vision that God had given him that led to the start of Sonlife as well as some miracles along the way as the movement has expanded to over 150 countries across the globe. Ten years ago, Dann was moving from Louisville to Arizona, so I flew up to Kentucky and rented a van to load up all of Sonlife’s archives… 25 boxes worth!! When I got home and was sorting through everything, I found a small orange notebook. In it were Dann’s notes from the very first time he trained other youth pastors in the Son’s Strategy for Disciple-Making. I thought it would be fun to bring that to the conference and give it back to Dann during our interview. I had no idea how powerful that moment would be. Dann got choked up and shared, through tears, how many hours he had invested in preparing that material… more than 500 hours! This moment will forever be ingrained in my memory. What an incredible legacy from Dann’s life and his investment in movement leaders. And that investment began with a little orange notebook!
