District Champs!

I spent the month of November focused on thankfulness, blogging each day about something that I am thankful for (as prompted by the Day One journaling app). As I was focused on answering the daily prompt, I did miss out on posting about something amazing that happened back in late October. So for the next couple of days I will be posting about our high school girls soccer team winning districts.

The game was incredibly exciting. Our girls played their hearts out, but they were down 1-0 for most of the game. In the final minutes of the second half, our girls caught the opposing goalie outside of the goal box and snuck in a game-tying goal!

The crowd went wild!

There was no score for the rest of regulation, and the went into overtime.

There was no goal made in the first overtime, so the game went into a second overtime.

There was no goal made in the second overtime, so there was a shootout!

I was wondering who would take the shots for our team, and I can honestly say I was a bit surprised to see my daughter running out to take the first shot.

You can do this, Abigail!

She took her shot, the goalie dove at the ball and got a hand on it, but couldn’t stop the ball from moving forward… right into the back of the net!

Abigail scored on the first penalty kick!

I could hardly breathe… but thankfully I had my camera along and zoomed in to take a shot of her taking a shot.
