Photo Every Day 2023

For the past couple of weeks we have had bluebirds hanging around our backyard. They really are beautiful. The funny thing is, though, that they are too heavy for our birdhouse. If they try to land on the birdhouse, it immediately tips and scares the bird.

I was watching all of this happen out our back window, so I grabbed my camera to try to get a photo. Surprisingly, I was able to capture the bird right after it frightened itself by landing on (and tipping) the birdhouse. You can see random seeds falling out to the ground as the bird flutters away.

I think this is actually a part of the crazy bird’s strategy, because after doing this a few times, it will just fly to the ground and eat all of the seeds that it had caused to fall.
