#5kMay2019 Day 10 (BLOG)

What a day! This morning I woke up and celebrated 16 years of marriage to the love of my life by running 18 miles in tiny, 2 mile increments…

Awesome!

In preparation for my upcoming marathon, my brother and I ran the same 2 mile loop 9 times in a row. Next Friday, during my Connecticut marathon, I will have to run 3 more 2 mile loops (and a little over a half mile out and back).

Running in circles is fun.

There… that should give you a small taste of what it was like this morning.

We finished the 18 mile run in 2 hours and 23 minutes, at an average pace of 7:59 per mile.

You can accomplish an awful lot of conversing over the course of 18 miles. We pretty much held a 2 hour and 23 minute conversation. We ran several miles in the rain (and I definitely ran the rest of the miles covered in my own sweat).

Overall, it was just a really great run.

The Bible reading today felt a little bit like my morning run. As we finished the gospel of Matthew and move into the gospel of Mark, it feels a little bit like we are just hearing the same thing again. It’s like we are in a gospel loop.

In many ways, the gospel of Mark is strikingly similar to the gospel of Matthew, but it is definitely told from a different, unique perspective.

Before we are finished with the challenge, we will hear Luke and John’s unique perspectives, as well… So buckle up, ya’ll… it’s going to be a wild (and awesome) ride!
