#5kMay2019 Day 8 (BLOG)

Group run! Tonight was another glorious group run from Vertical Runner of Wooster. I always enjoy the group runs, when I can get there.

Tonight I ran way too fast for my own good. I felt pretty good at the time, but I was a walking puddle of sweaty mess when I finished. It was a little too hot, and a little too hilly for me to run as hard as I did (in the shape that I am currently in).

I ran 6.2 miles in 45 minutes and 52 seconds, which was an average pace of 7:24 per mile. This was not my fastest time for this particular route (I ran it at a 7:14 pace back in March), but it was much faster than I hoped to run tonight.

Oh well.

For me, the question right now is not whether or not I can run around 7:30 for 6 miles, but whether or not I can run around 8:00 for 26.2 miles.

I hope the answer to the second question is: YES!

We’ll see… next Friday.

One thing I was thinking today as I considered our daily Bible reading was that Matthew 21 through much of Matthew 26 seem to be “Bucket List”, of sorts, for Jesus. From Matthew 21 on, as He rides into Jerusalem on a donkey, He seems to have a renewed sense of intensity, purpose, and urgency. He cleanses the Temple, curses the tree, tells parables directly against the religious leaders, laments over the scribes and Pharisees, and gives insight into His second coming.

He is really on a roll!

Of course Jesus is always intentional, but there seems to be an increased level of intentionality in these final days in Jerusalem.

What do you think He was feeling?

What would you do if you knew that you would be dead by the end of the week?

  1. I loved your insights the the day… I think I would try to save lost souls.
And probably be a little sad. 😂😂😂
I will be doing my 5K this afternoon when it rains.
