#5kMay2018 Day 28
Happy Memorial Day! I woke up this morning once again in Morgantown, WV. I was at the exact same hotel as I was staying in a couple of days ago, so I just ran the same route again. I ran 3.1 miles in 25 minutes and 12 seconds. The average pace was 8:07 per mile.
Today was super busy! I was scheduled to sing at a Memorial Day Celebration in Harrisonburg, VA, so after my run I cleaned up and jumped in a van to finish the trip to Harrisonburg. There were serious threats of rain all around Harrisonburg, and in fact, it did rain everywhere around where we were at, but it never rained at the fairgrounds where we were holding the celebration! That seemed like a miracle to me!
At the celebration, a couple of different artists performed. John Schmid was there. Jason Crabb performed, and Steve Wingfield explained the gospel and invited the audience to respond. I sang the National Anthem, and we invited all of the veterans in the audience to come forward and have a medal hung around their neck as a way of thanking them for their service. It was an emotional and meaningful moment.
I barely had time to fit in my Bible reading and blogging today. In fact, I am writing on my way home from Virginia. So much stuck out to me in today’s reading, but I will simply leave this for consideration.
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:13, ESV
Obviously Jesus is speaking of Himself in this passage. He was willing to show the extent of His love by laying down His life so that we could receive eternal life. There is no greater love than that!
On this day, Memorial Day, this passage also causes me to be mindful of those who have laid down their lives in service for our freedom as a nation.
We have so much to celebrate and be thankful for today. Our freedom (both physically and spiritually) was bought at a high price!

We got our running and reading done today and yesterday!
Traveling I didn’t get my blog part done. But got my run in. Not my best run but I did it.
This verse stuck out.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”
John 14:16-17 ESV
The Holy Spirit was given since Christ was going to heaven. I feel of the trinity I don’t think about this one as much. Itscool how God made it to be with us all the time.
