10k October (Day Twenty-One, Twenty-Two, and Twenty-Three)

Run, run, run…

It’s hard to believe that I am already twenty-three days into 10k October. I’m feeling pretty great, actually.

Friday morning I woke up and ran 6.2 miles in 47:32, which is an average pace of 7:39 per mile. I wanted to get my run finished first thing in the morning because I knew that I would be driving a few hundred miles that evening and would not have any other opportunity to run.

In the evening I jumped in the car with some of the guys from Polen Band and drove to the Philidelphia, PA area so that we could attend a wedding the next day. Nick Mast (the drummer from Polen Band) was getting married!

We arrived at the hotel late Friday night and woke up early Saturday morning to meet a good friend for breakfast. Then, after a delicious southwest omelette, we went to the wedding, then the reception, and then jumped back in the car to head for home. It was a blitz trip, but we were all glad that we were able to be there for the wedding.

We stopped at a Chick-Fill-A for supper, and all the world rejoiced!! It was delightful. I arrived at home around 11pm and went out to get my daily 10k in the books.

I ran 6.2 miles in 45:00, which is an average pace of 7:14 per mile. I was ready for bed after that!

This morning our family attended Smithville Mennonite Church and Pastor Todd Martin did an awesome job of unpacking “Salvation”. Then I had an opportunity to talk about the upcoming “I Am Fall Retreat” with their high school students and parents. I am super excited about the upcoming retreat!

We had some good friends over for supper and then I had a chance to go for my daily 10k. I ran 6.5 miles in 47:37, which is an average pace of 7:16 per mile. I was a little slower than the previous day, but not by much.

This week I ran a total of 49.3 miles, which really makes me wish I would have run at least an extra 0.7.
