Photo Every Day 2026

We had a big day on Saturday. Piper had a soccer game in the morning and then both Piper and Elijah ran at a cross country meet in the evening. I wanted to share a couple of my favorite photos from both. 

Piper had a heartbreaking ending to an otherwise great run at the Mapleton Moonlight XC Classic 2026. She was in the front, or near the front of the pack for nearly the entire race. She was pouring her heart out onto the course for nearly 3 miles. Then, all at once, she was done. I would imagine that giving 100% in the heat of the day at the soccer game earlier that day was a factor, but she got incredibly dizzy, felt overwhelmingly confused, and actually stopped for a second before realizing she had a race to finish. Significantly disappointed, and still very disoriented, she sprinted down the finish line chute and finished in seventh place. Definitely not a bad finish, but not the race she was hoping for.

She is feeling much better now, but she was feeling pretty out of it for a while. Thankfully it is still early in the season. This was the second official race, and the first 5k distance race of the season. I am excited to see how the rest of the season progresses for this incredible young lady. I thin she works harder than anyone I know. I am hoping that work will pay off and put her in the position she is aiming for by the end of the season.
