10k October (Day Fifteen, Sixteen, & Seventeen)
Well I just ran right through the halfway point. 10k October is officially more than halfway over.
Is the glass half empty or half full?
I have really been enjoying myself with 10k October. After the first few weeks of not feeling well physically, I now feel like a brand new man being able to run and enjoy it (and actually breathe!)
On Saturday morning I ran a nice 7 miles in 52:51, which was an average pace of 7:32 per mile.
Yesterday I got to the end of the day and hadn’t yet had a chance to run, so I went out at 9:15pm. It was a rain run! I love rain runs (other than the fact that I nearly got run over because drivers are so unpredictable when it rains). I was feeling really good and ran exactly 6.2 miles (10k) in 45:28, which is an average pace of 7:19 per mile.
Today I went out in the afternoon and ran a nice and easy 7 miles in 52:36, which is an average pace of 7:38 per mile. It would have been more enjoyable if not for the wind. I felt a bit like a human kite for much of the run. Why does it always seem that the wind is working against me? It is amazing how quickly my pace seems to slow down when I am running into the wind. My muscles get tired and I find myself thinking, maybe I should just turn around and run the other way…
The highlight of my run tonight was when someone drove by me and yelled out their window “10k October!”
Yes! That was awesome.
