5k Every Day in the Month of May (Day 20)

It was a beautiful morning for a run!

This morning I met up with a couple of All-Star runners, Amy Geiser and Lori Hostetler. We went for a nice morning run through Kidron, and it was such a joy.

I really admire Amy and Lori’s friendship. We are all members of the same church, but they have a closeness to one another that I think is really special. So it was fun to be the third wheel this morning.

Both Amy and Lori have been a part of the previous two JPM 5k & Musik Festival events. I believe that they are both planning to run in it again this year, as well.

Up to this point in 2016, neither of them had run a full 5k. I knew they could do it, so I pushed them a little bit. They were awesome! There was no walking. They even went a bit further than a 5k, which was super cool.

We ran 3.57 miles in 37:13.4. That is an average pace of 10:26 per mile. They were pretty concerned that they were going to ruin my average pace for the week, but I’m really not concerned about anything like that. I was just happy for the company and enjoyable morning run.

This morning I was reminded again of God’s goodness and grace. I am so thankful that God reached out to me even while I was lost in my transgressions and sins.

Jesus says,

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” (John 15:16 ESV)

That is my story! Jesus chose me that I should go and bear fruit that abides. Amen.

He has chosen you to do the same. How will you act on that today?

  1. Just love reading your blogs! It’s so awesome people join you in the run! I have to start running again. So that means run walk, run walk, till I can run the whole way. Never ran a 5k but I used to run on the trails, then I quit. Which was a bad thing. But started working,so I gradually quit running.by the time I came home from work, and made dinner for the family I felt burned😳 But shouldn’t of been an excuse!

    • Thank you for reading the blog! I hope that you can find time to get out and get back into running. Have you ever tried the “Couch to 5k” program? It is a really good program for getting your body, lungs, and legs trained for a full 5k.
