5k Every Day in the Month of May (Day 13)

Today I set out with a goal of getting back under an 8 minute mile pace. On Wednesday I stretched my legs a little further than they wanted to go with an 8 mile run. Yesterday my legs were just too tired to get under the 8 minute mile pace, but today I was bound and determined to get them back…

I did it.

Yay! [cue fireworks and dancing ninjas]

Today I just had a really nice run through town and back and was able to finish in 24:15.3 with an average pace of 7:50 per mile.

What was I thinking about during the run? I’m almost afraid to say. But it is true, so I’ll just say it.

I can’t stop thinking about the insanity running rampant in our nation.

We homeschool our children (currently 3 kids in school and 2 not yet). On Fridays I have the honor of teaching the kids while Jodi is at work (she teaches every other day of the week). I really enjoy it and I am really thankful for the education that our kids are getting.

Between subjects I occasionally check news headlines to see what is going on in the world. Today there were all kinds of articles about the Obama administration announcing that public schools across the nation must allow students to use the bathroom and locker room that they “identify” with.

I am tempted to say, “Now this has gone too far!” but the reality is that we had gone too far way before this latest detestable debacle.

I just want to call this what it is. This is not tolerance. This is not compassion.

This is stupidity.

Yes, this whole thing is dangerous. Yes, this whole thing is anti-biblical. Of course all of that is true, but before any of that, this is just plain stupid.

I love what Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote in the 1940’s in an essay called, On Stupidity:

Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice. One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leaves behind in human beings at least a sense of unease.

Against stupidity we are defenseless. Neither protests nor the use of force accomplish anything here; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one’s prejudgment simply need not be believed – in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical – and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental.

In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self-satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack. For that reason, greater caution is called for when dealing with a stupid person than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.

Though written more than 60 years ago, these words seem incredibly important for today.

Stupidity is dangerous, and it is the enemy of good. This is clearly seen in our world today.

Obvious truths of nature should be clearly seen, but they are not. It is difficult for me to even wrap my mind around how this can be so, but it is.

Here is a simple thought:

When it is dark outside, when the sun is nowhere to be found and the moon is clearly seen, that is called “night”. When it is light outside, when the sun is clearly visible and the moon is nowhere to be found, that is called “day”.

What about when it is light out and the sun is clearly visible but the moon is also visible? That happens sometimes, and it may appear confusing, but that is still called “day”.

It’s not that hard.

Well here is another simple thought:

When you walk into a bathroom and there is a urinal, that is a bathroom for a male. Females are really going to struggle to successfully use a urinal. (I could get into more specifics, but let’s just keep it simple.)

It’s not that hard.

Can I just be blunt? Men and woman are created differently. Equal in value (especially in the eyes of God), but different in function. This is good. This is how God created it. If you are confused about this, it’s okay. We can teach you.

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27, ESV)

The truth may go against what your body and mind are telling you, but that’s okay, it’s still the truth. You are better off admitting it and learning to deal with it than pretending that a lie is true.

When the sun is clearly visible, but the moon is also clearly visible, it’s day. It’s not night. It may feel strange because the moon is clearly visible, but the truth is that you are experiencing day.

When you have been created in such a way that you can successfully navigate the urinal with ease, but you feel like a girl, you’re not. You’re a guy.

This truth goes beyond basic plumbing, as well. (This is so obvious that it is amazing to me that I am actually bothering to point it out).

I was running today… that’s a fun subject. Let’s look at running, just as an example.

The fastest male sprinter in the world today is Usain Bolt. He ran the 100m sprint in 9.58 seconds in August 2009. That is really fast!

The fastest female sprinter in the world is Florence Griffith-Joyner, who ran the 100m in 10.49 seconds in July 1988. To be fair, that is also really fast! But the only reason that she is known as the fastest woman in the world is because she is a woman!

If she were a man, she wouldn’t have even made the top 10 list. Actually, she wouldn’t even be in the top 2,369. (In my quick research, I couldn’t find a list longer than 2,369, and the 2,369th fastest male in the world ran the 100m in 10.09, so it is safe to say that in a world where gender is irrelevant -Florence Griffith-Joyner is also quite irrelevant).

So what is the end goal of all of this gender neutral garbage? Is the aim of the movement to take away Florence Griffith-Joyner’s title of fastest female in the world?

Of course not.

When it is convenient for them, they want to make sure we recognize outstanding females, but only in comparison to other females. All the while they are shouting “EQUALITY!”

This is stupidity.

Let’s all agree that Florence Griffith-Joyner is an incredible athlete, and easily the fastest woman to ever run the 100m in recorded history. (She runs faster than me, for sure!) But in a world where she “identifies” as a male and has to compete against other males… she wouldn’t even qualify for the US Olympic Team.

Guess what world, men and woman are different. That’s not just my opinion -that is fact.

One more quick scientific statistic, just for fun:

It turns out, after heavy research dating back to the beginning of time, that 100% more human females have given birth to children than have human males.

Hmm…
