En Gedi

En Gedi would be the land where David was hiding from Saul. Saul was trying to kill David. At one point Saul had stopped in a cave to relieve himself and David snuck up behind him to cut off a piece of his robe. After Saul left the cave David called after him with the piece of robe in his hand. He was proving that he was not out to kill Saul because Saul was the Lord’s anointed.

The whole story comes to life in vivid pictures as we stare at the dry, rugged landscape of En Gedi.

What a life David had known! Hiding in all of these rocks for much of his life, no wonder so many Psalms speak of God as David’s “rock”.
