Photo Every Day 2026

We had quite an interesting experience this morning. We visited a local church that was experimenting with having their service “in the round”. I kind of liked it. The musicians circled up in the center of the space, and you could see the faces of church members across the room. There were obviously some practical difficulties (speaker position, lyric projection, etc), but it was actually quite enjoyable and refreshing.

The pastor did not share much of a sermon. He offered a quick reminder of the previous week’s message, and then opened the floor for anyone who wanted to share about what God was doing in their hearts and lives throughout the week. He said he would leave awkward silence for a minute, and if no one shared he would go ahead and preach the sermon that he had prepared, but he felt led by God to leave space for people to simply respond to God. The first person shared almost immediately, and many more shared after that. The rest of the service was sharing, followed by people praying for one another. It was powerful.
