Photo Every Day 2025

On June 11, 2022, the Polen family was heading from North Carolina to New Mexico, and we stayed over in Pearl, MS. We noticed that there was a Bass Pro Shop not far from our hotel, and the kids had really been wanting to go to a Bass Pro Shop (thanks, Dude Perfect). They had only ever heard of Bass Pro Shop, but had never actually been to one. So we went.

Of course we had to take a family photo in front of the store, so we had everyone stand on a rock and I put my phone in selfie-mode. Suddenly a guy came up to us, seemingly out of nowhere, and asked, “Ya’ll want me to take ya’ll’s picture?!”

Haha. Welcome to Mississippi!

We have never forgotten about that. The phrase has been recycled a time or two.

Today Jodi and I found ourselves driving through Mississippi, and suddenly she said, “Hey, isn’t that the hotel that we stayed at on our way to New Mexico?!”

It was!

So I said, “That means that Bass Pro Shop has to be right around this corner.

It was.

We just had to stop and take a photo.

No one offered to take our photo, but that’s okay. Selfie-mode still works just fine.
