Gratitude Challenge: Day 15

I have decided to spend the month of November focusing on thankfulness. To help me with this challenge, I signed up to receive a daily prompt from the Day One journal app, encouraging me to write about something I am thankful for. I will, of course, aim to pair the daily journal entry with a photo.

Here is today’s prompt:

Who has supported me during difficult times?

Okay, so a couple of things need to be said to clarify any confusion with this post.

First, I am really not a cat person. For at least the first four decades of my life I would have told you that cats were mostly good for nothing. Not a fan.

Second, my wife loves cats. For the first couple of decades of her life she always had a cat. Then she married me. That was the end of her having cats.

Third, I have five kids.

If you put all of this together, I think you can understand how we recently became the proud(ish) owners of a cat.

It has actually been really fun to see my wife come alive as she plays with the cat. She is like a little kid again. The kids love the cat, too.

As for me… well, I actually kind of like the cat.

I wouldn’t say that the cat has supported me during difficult times, as the daily prompt is asking, but I wanted to post a picture of the cat because she reminds me of what family looks like. We didn’t get the cat because I wanted a cat (trust me, that was NOT the case). We got the cat because the kids really wanted one, (the neighbors were offering it for free,) and I knew that my wife wanted a cat again.

We support each other at all times… and especially during difficult times. That is what family is all about.

(The cat doesn’t really support anyone, but she is kind of cute.)
