Photos from Ambassador Camp 2023

I enjoy getting out to run first thing in the morning. I woke up and got my run in each day before breakfast while I was at Ambassador Camp this past week. On Wednesday morning I ran by a little canal that struck me as a bit odd.

I feel like there could be some pretty menacing wildlife in there… I thought to myself, but I didn’t really think much more about it. I just ran.

Later that day I was talking with some of the staff at the camp. I mentioned that some of the water looks a little ominous… almost like there could even be gators in it.

Their faces turned somewhat stern.

“Well… there are gators in it.”

Yikes!

I later found out that the stretch I was running along is affectionately known as “Alligator Alley.”

Double yikes!

I went back the following day (in a vehicle this time), and counted more than a handful of gators mere feet from where I was running. I took this photo right at my turnaround spot.

And here is a slightly closer look…
