  1. Yes I have done a 5k every day still!
I have learned that time management and having things scheduled makes it easier to complete the challenge.
I have grown stronger mentally and spiritually by listening to the 5k a day daily bible reading and taking time to reflect and listen to Gods word.

    • 1.Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023?
No, it’s been really hard finding the time with 4 kids and a busy May schedule.

      2. What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?
Since I’m injured and can only walk it’s harder for me to want to get out there. I would much rather be running, but I know walking is helpful in getting back into running.

      3. In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? Honestly I haven’t grown because this season of injury and busy kids schedules are just part of life right now. In some ways I’ve grown mentally in knowing my life just looks different right now and that’s ok!

    • Definitely on track and have done a 5k every day, read scriptures, and completed the Mayhem challenge. It has reaffirmed that I need to be in scripture daily and listen to what God has planned for me. I run/ walk outside in God’s gazebo and it’s a great place to connect with Him.

  4. I have successfully walked a 5k every day in May so far! I have learned that my body is stronger than I thought. I have grown mentally because now I know I can do things I thought I couldn’t. I have grown physically because I can feel myself getting stronger and conditioned, it’s no longer a struggle to do a 5k physically. And emotionally/spiritually I know I’ve grown because it’s taken a lot of grace and patience with myself and a lot of thanksgiving to God that I am able to even do this challenge. Your podcasts have definitely been encouraging and have aided in my spiritual growth. And knowing your kids are doing the challenge is also so inspiring and encouraging!

    2. I can do hard things!
    3. I have grown mentally & spiritually because I now know that I can do hard things! I’ve pushed myself to go faster and I’ve survived. I’ve spent time daily focusing on scripture and been more prayerful and purposeful, which makes me feel better. I’ve also lost a few inches around my waist which makes my pants fit better. 🙂

    2. I need to be intentional in scheduling, etc. — and I can do that.
    3. I’ve learned that sometimes what is really good for another person might not be best for me. It’s good to evaluate.

    • Yes
It is best to have a plan of when to run or walk each day, but I do enjoy running
I still love running more than walking.

  9. I have kept up successfully with the 5k a day. It has really shown my body is more durable than what my mind thinks. It’s created some dark spots to force me to push through and grind the miles out. But truly enjoy pushing the body and mind through the daily miles. So far the hardest part is scheduling time to get it done.

    • Yes, I have done at least a 5k every day! Going into it, I wasn’t sure if time would allow, but I didn’t have any reason to NOT do it. Even in the midst of traveling, a daughter’s wedding, and family time, I was able to make time.
I usually don’t listen to the Bible, but it was amazing listening to it! I feel like I was less distracted. And knowing so many other believers were doing this at the same time, was so encouraging!

  10. 1. YES
    2. I have learned to schedule the 5k into my daily routine! Getting it done the first thing in the morning is the best way to complete this challenge!

Thanks again for doing this amazing challenge!

Creating a daily routine for myself takes the guesswork of scheduling out of my day.

  12. 1) I have walked 5k every day in May
    2) It is easy for me to not complete tasks. Procrastination is pretty easy but doesn’t work when you are committed

  13. 1. YES!🎉
    2. Even when I think I can’t – I absolutely CAN!!💪🏻

    • Yes, I’ve included my 3 year old alot of the days and learned it’s not about speed or path taken it’s about the journey and getting to the end. She has taught me to be more flexible in this achievement just as in all other aspects of my life.💕

  15. Yes, I have done a 5k everyday. It has been a little rough on some days but I have made it through. I Love the podcasts and the photo challenges.

  17. Yes, I have walked a 5K every day in May.

On the few days I didn’t feel like doing the walk, it was on those days that when I finished the walk I felt the most accomplished.

I want to keep up this challenge – June 5K in the USA. The commitment helps me emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.
Also, I like the cute, rhyming name for the challenge. That must be the elementary teacher in me.

Did you know that June 4th (first Wednesday in June) is National Running Day?

  18. Yes, I have completed the 5k a day!! 😊
I have learned discipline plus I did this with my daughter and we were able to grow closer during our adventures. My husband even walked some with me.

  19. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023? Yes

What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?

I am determined to complete the things I set out to do.

In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughou

I have grown stronger by getting out and running every day, listening to the podcast scripture reading, and by having that 30-45 minutes every day to reflect on my life and the things God has for me.

  20. I have successfully run/walked 3.1 miles everyday in May.
I have learned, especially during Mayhem that when I want to give up, I have way more to give. Also, I learned there are foot exercises to strengthen feet and it will help with ankles, calves, etc.
I think each year I grow in all these areas- little by little. I don’t have a specific scenario, but when you are in the word everyday and being active everyday there is definitely change.

  21. 1. Yes
    2. I have learned that I am very busy in the month of May.
    3. I appreciate having accountability to do something I otherwise would never do on my own.

  22. Yes, Every day so far!

Learned about myself-That I like to get things done the beginning of the day rather than have to do it at the end.

In what ways have I grown?-My appriciation for the beauty that God has created has increased this month. Also it had been a great time to grow in my prayer life as well.

  23. Yes!
I have learned that I am so often distracted by my phone and it’s been good for me to walk without my phone at times. Our family relationships are stronger with having done this together and helping each other get their 5k in every day. ☺️

  24. 1. Yes I have 😃
    2. I have learned that 5ks come in all different types and have enjoyed being able to incorporate my family more this year.
    3. I do not believe I have really grown during this challenge as I have been doing a 5k a day for over a year but I do enjoy my quiet time in the Word while I run.

  25. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023? No, I missed many days due to a busy schedule and lots of rain in the sunshine state.

What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? That if I push myself I can do more than I think I can.

In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? I realized that on the days I missed running or walking it negatively effected me in many ways.

    • 1). No, I had trouble early on with significant foot injury and missed 7 days. I realize I’m out for “official” completion😔 BUT I am going to keep going and make up the days I missed. (All good now🙌)
      2). I can overcome injury.
3). I’m and all or nothing personality so in the past I might have scrapped participation once I missed the mark…this time I continued on and will finish my modified version on the 7th as the commitment to completion is important and health spiritually, mentally and physically is obviously worth it!

      • Way to keep going. The sense of accomplishment is way more valuable than a T-Shirt.

    • I have ran all but one so far! This has been one of the best years mentally for me to do this. Getting up and moving has made me feel better and gives me times for myself, even to quiet my mind 😊 such a good challenge!

  26. Yes, every day!
I’ve learned that I can block out the thoughts of something being too difficult to finish.
I feel I have grown closer to my wife, because we get to have uninterrupted time to talk about the day and the upcoming days.

    • 1. Yep, going strong!
      2. I have learned that I definitely prefer being out in creation for this daily walk, even when it’s super hot or rainy, rather than hitting the treadmill. “Dreadmill” is a real thing!
      3. I have found greater confidence in myself and even wore shorts in public for my 5k yesterday—a huge mental feat for me! But, I also feel stronger and more agile. I have grown to love this time each day because when I’m on the trail, there are few other things I can be doing at the same time (meaning, I don’t have to be multitasking to ensure that I’m getting my never ending to-do list complete) and those other things that I AM able to do (prayer, listening to scripture or my favorite music, taking in the beauty of creation, etc) are so life-giving!

In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? Doing the scriptures and being in nature I believe has pulled me closer to my creator. Being outside as opposed to inside on the treadmill helps to clear my thinking and be more focused on my tasks.

  28. I am still in it.
I have learned that I am not a hill runner or walker anymore. Planning you day is key. And have a back up plan.
I definitely space out mentally while trying to run and listen to the podcasts.

  29. Yes, I have completed my 5k everyday!! I have learned that the excuse of not having time is not an excuse anymore. It is about making the time for what is important to you. I am stronger spiritually because I have read all of the Bible readings and emotionally because I hold myself accountable.

  30. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023?
    YES

What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?

That I really love the energy I get from getting outside and being active and I love the running community.

In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?
Having fun doing the challenge virtually with others or running with groups.

  31. Yes, I am still going!
When you create a routine it takes the daily struggle of “making a decision” out of it and that is what creates consistency.

  32. 1. Yes
    2. I learned that I enjoy doing a walk with my family over running by myself.
    3. I always lean up a bit when I run so that has been nice. Last year I didn’t complete the challenge because it wasn’t a priority when scheduling became an issue. This year I wasn’t going to not finish so definitely had a different mindset.

  33. Yes, Will finish the “May5k Everyday” strong. Committments are important, sunny, cold, wet, wind have not deterred me! Several folks have joined me on at least 1 5k including my grandchildren. Great dedicated time with my lord in the process!

  34. 1 yes
2 that I need to go see a doctor about my feet hahaj
3 determination that I can do something that I set my mind to

  35. 1. Yes
    2. I have learned that even though I might not be getting faster, I am getting stronger.
    3. I have grown closer to God through this time by having time to think and listen as I do my 5ks. I also have enjoyed walking some of them with my wife and chatting about our day.

  36. 1) Yep! still going.
    2) My day goes a lot better if I get up and do my 5k in the morning.
    3) Accountability is good. I wouldn’t be doing this every day if it wasn’t for this challenge.

  37. I can proudly say that I have walk (and tried to run) 3.1 miles everyday so far in the month of May!

I think the biggest thing Ive learned about myself is that I don’t hold myself accountable enough when it comes to physical exercise. Ive never finished a challenge like this before and I think it showed me that I am capable of more things than my mind lets me believe.

I think I have grown a lot through this experience. I think Ive grown the most mentally. Having to push myself and not give up challenged me in a lot of ways. I also think Ive grown physically, obviously haha, and spiritually through prayer and worship during this experience. I am so grateful that I signed up to do this!

  38. Yes I have everyday.
I’m capable of accomplishing any goal that I pursue and make time for.
I took on bigger appreciation of God’s creation around me while I was outside doing my 5k’s. Was able to spend more time with God and also felt better mentally and physically when intentionally doing cardio daily.

  39. Yes, I am still cranking away every day, and hope I can roll this through June also !!!
Some days were tough, especially a couple of cold rainy days early in the month and on days I had medical appointments and wanted to do nothing else but go back home to bed.
Planning planning planning. It seems so simple, just one “small” goal to add onto my day. and looking at the daily fun photos added a good splash of humor and something to look forward too to keep exercise fun!!!!

      • Yes!
The best way to make sure I do my 5k is to do it right away in the morning, even if that means getting up at 5:45.
This challenge has again reminded me that I can do hard things, if I can do a 5k every day I could also take the time to be intentionally in scripture every day!!

  40. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023? Yep
What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? I could use more sleep.
In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? I have enjoyed processing your insights on the Scripture readings via the podcast.

  41. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023? Yep
What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? I can do this.
In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? It has been good for me to prioritize this run (walk) every single day, and the discipline that comes with it.

  42. 1. Yes still in this.
    2. I’ve learned that even when the day seems gone or the pain hurts it still can be completed.
    3. I’ve grown mentally more by just knowing my body may say stop but my mind can can still
    Say “go more”.

  43. I have not missed a day mostly walking but still an accomplishment! I have learned that with proper time management I can do more with my body than I thought. I have grown mentally in realizing some days I can’t do “it” all and just need to focus on what has to be done and let the rest go

  44. 1. Yes!
    2. I can make time for exercise and things if I’m motivated by a free tshirt. 🤣
    3. It’s possible and necessary to make time to read Gods word and spend time taking care of my body, take time to be with my family and less screen time, more outside time. Walking/running outside is better than any antidepressant.

    • Maryn and John have done every day as well.

      Maryn: 1. Yes!
      2. It’s been fun spending so much time with my parents one on one.
      3. It’s a challenge to make time but we help each other get it done.

      John:
      1. yes!
      2. Time with family and making sure my wife has time to do it.
      3. I can wash the dishes after dinner and let my wife go 🤣🤣🤣

  45. I have completed the 5k every day. I’ve learned that it is best for me to walk the first thing in the morning and listening to the podcast is a good start to the day. The commentary by Jeff always challenges my personal walk with the Lord.

    • I have managed to get a 5k done every day. I have found it’s best for me to get it done early in the morning before things come up to get in the way time wise to complete it. You have to be determined to complete the challenge as I found myself out walking a couple of nights pretty late in order to not miss a day.

      • Great job!! It was always an encouraging bonus for me to see you out walking in the morning!

  46. Yes! And having a great time!
I’ve been reminded again of how nice it is to have friends that run and keep me going day after day.

  47. #1. Yes
    #2. Priorities
#3. ‘If you’re not moving forward you’re standing still.’ Everyday has the potential for growth. Some days I’m in it, other days I’m just getting through. Either way I’m making it with a smile.

  48. 1. Yes
    2. I can accomplish something just with the thought that I don’t want to be a quitter.
    3. I have felt better this month than I expected to as I continue to be further along in pregnancy. At the beginning I wasn’t sure how far I would make it in the challenge even though I have done it in years past. I also have enjoyed getting uninterrupted time with my husband to spend time together.

  49. Yes I have successfully walked a 5k everyday in May. I learned I enjoy getting up early to get it done and like doing it with others. During the podcasts and walks I loved reflecting on what God has created and done and listening to hear what He is saying in the quietness of the walks.

  50. Yes, I am so excited to say I accomplished this #5k2023 to day 30 so far

When I started out I didn’t know if I could do it with my meniscus, tears, and partial ACL tear. But I am much stronger than I was when I started May 1st… I even wake up before the alarm goes off at 5:00 AM.

I really needed to do this physically but more then that I needed it mentally, it’s been a rough year losing my sister and there were days I could hardly get out of bed and some days I didn’t.

I’ve grown spiritually too, we love listening to the podcast, a lot of the time my family listened with me, for some reason the settings on my phone wouldn’t always let me listen when I was walking.

    My dogs loved it too!!

    I’m planning to continue

  51. I’m still going strong.

I’ve learned to take extra time for me (to get out and walk)

I’ve spent time in prayer on some of my walks, growing my relationship with God.

  52. 1. Yes!
    2. I’ve learned that the consistency of running these annual 5ks helps me to reset my priorities each springtime.
    3. Definitely stronger legs and stronger heart rate. These 5ks always help to re-center my love for Jesus!

  53. Yes
Even when you don’t “feel” like doing something, you can still get it done.
I’ve really enjoyed the podcast and Bible readings. The encouragement you give is very motivating. Thanks for taking the time to do those each day.

  54. 1.Yes, every day!

    2. That I am determined to finish what I started.

    3. I have grown in so many ways I am always amazed by how much a 5K every day can make you grow in all areas in your life. For me it has helped me to just get out and get a run or walk in everyday, with working in an office all day you need that “me time” plus get that exercise in for the day 🙂 I absolutely love listening to the podcast and just having that one on one time with God during my ran/walk daily. It is a challenge especially if you have a busy season however, is so worth it !

  55. •Yes
•I can do a (very slow) 5k while recovering from the stomach bug😅
•Really appreciate Jeff & Jodi’s Bible reading and insights. Your zeal is very inspiring. Thank you!

  56. Yes!
I’ve learned that most times when I say I “don’t have time” it’s just an excuse. I have found the time to do this every day this month by making it a priority.
I didn’t read all the scriptures or listen to all the podcasts but I took a few minutes each walk/run to pray.

  57. 1. Yes, I have run/walked at least 3.1 miles every day in May, 2023.
    2. I’ve learned that I can make the time to run/walk, especially now that I am retired, and I REALLY enjoy this time.
    3. I have grown mentally by making this challenge less challenging by looking forward to my run/walk everyday. I am sure I am a stronger runner now, and look forward to seeing my times drop in upcoming 5K races. I’ve also enjoyed the daily fun photos. I hope to keep this challenge going, although I want to vary my workout by doing an aerobics class and kayaking…something EVERY day. I’ve enjoyed listening the podcast, and although I’ve read lots of parts of the Bible, I really enjoyed listening to Jeff and Jodi. I’d like to find a similar podcast to listen to the rest of the Bible…suggestions?

  58. I am still in this challenge!! I learned as I probably already knew about myself is that I am determined person. Once a challenge has been presented to me and I decide to do it I usually do it and keep to it to the end. Emotionally, physically, spiritually I always seeming to grow in these areas. Getting outside to walk or run seems to help with all of these areas.

  59. 1. Yes!
    2. I am extremely motivated by a t-shirt!!!
    3. I have grown physically in that I am faster and stronger than I was 30 days ago! Spirituality, it has given me the opportunity to really take in all the beauty God has given us to take care of. It has strengthened my relationship with God. Finally, it has been wonderful for my husband and I to have this time each day to walk together and share about our days, really nurturing our relationship.

  60. DIANE AND TOM BOGGS
    1. Yes we have completed the 5K every day. There were a few days that it was not all in one walk/run.
    2. Diane- I can raise to a challenge. Tom- Even if I’m struggling, I can put body over mind.
    3. Together we have grown as couple using the time together to strengthen our relationship.

  61. 1. Yes. It has been great even though not easy.
    2. I’m pretty sure I would not have finished without your podcast to cheer me on. I’m running by myself each day but your podcast helped feel part of a community.
    3. The running has helped lower my blood pressure and mange my stress.

  62. Yes sir!!! Still in it!!
I have learned that for me, having someone hold me accountable or in this case a group of people, help me stay focused on this task. Lastly, I have really enjoyed the podcast this year. It is so cool to see how the Lord will speak to us if we just take the time to hear him. So I’d have grown spiritual thru the podcast. Do you have a year long podcast Jeff?

  63. -Yes
-I can do the hard thing if I’m committed to doing the hard thing
-I have grown mentally/spiritually stronger by not listening to my flesh and doing what I want. It is easy to hit the snooze button, but I knew I had to get my run/walk done early or it wouldn’t get done. This is a lot like my quiet time with God, if I skip it early then I will most likely skip it later too

    • (1) done it all!
      (2) I’ve learned no man is an island, and you can’t do it alone!
      (3) I think I’ve grown in my marriage, my relationship with God, and with friends!

  64. Holding on by a thread.

I can make myself go even when I don’t want to.

I have lost weight and feel better.

  65. Yes
You can do anything you set your mind to it
Knowing you have support people encouraging you helped me mentally and physically to get it done.I really enjoy your podcast and the daily reading

  66. Yes, I have successfully walked at least 3.1 miles each day. I have found it interesting each week the difference and the reaction of my body. The first week I was sore because I was using my muscles more. Second week I was very tired, physically tired. Third week, the joints started to hurt. Now as I come to the end, my challenge has been that I am traveling internationally. Off spiritually, I have taken many opportunities to make these fair walks. Enjoying the time spent outdoors and with God.

I have struggled throughout this challenge with my physical health more days than not. and I really believe the grace of God has kept me going. As much as I’ve struggled physically, I do know I am stronger as well-Not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I have grown in my relationship with God and realize even when things are hard and I’m not sure it is possible, if I just put my trust in God, and believe in myself, I will be able to do it.

I feel really connected to my wife, Veronica. We have turned our 5K walks into date nights for the second half of the month. We talked, we prayed together, we spent time together that was uninterrupted by the kids…we praised our Lord for this opportunity to reconnect.

This challenge was another reminder that my strength comes from the Lord 🙂

  99. 1. YES! (And some days much more 😂)
    2. I’m a distance runner. I run marathons. I thought 3.1 miles every day is nothing, but half way through the month, I was tired! (It probably didn’t help I ran a marathon near the start of the challenge). I got to the point where I would dread the 5k, and want to go on a long run, but didn’t think it was wise to run longer distances in fear it would injure me (for not taking time off afterward). I guess I leaned short distances over the course of a month are harder than you’d think!
    3. Personally, this challenge has solidified the fact that I’m stubborn 😂. I also tend to go above and beyond. Last year I started Marathon training during the challenge, and instead of waiting until the end of the month, I pushed through and ran nearly every day. That wasn’t the best decision. This year, I leaned that walking some of them is totally fine! I didn’t have to run every single one!

  105. 1. Yes, still getting 3.1 miles in every day!
    2. The power of a goal and focus over time is powerful. I didn’t do the Mayhem challenge, so with 3.1 miles x 29 days, I’m at 89.9 miles this month! Amazing.

  108. 1. Yes, I walked or ran 3.1 miles every day in May, so far.
    2. This year was extremely difficult with my work, school, family, and church commitments. As such, it took great discipline to ensure I completed a 5k every day. I learned that, despite how busy we are, there’s always time to take care of our mind, body, and soul if we prioritize properly. Even if it means sacrificing some sleep.
    3. This year’s 5k challenge was mentally and physically challenging. Both mind, and body saw improvements, as a result. As always, listening to the scripture during the challenge helped me stay in the Word and lifted me up emotionally and spiritually.

In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?
My legs got stronger, so I can kick a ball really far.

  112. Yes
As crazy as it sounds, I look forward to my 5K as a way to relax and unwind from the craziness of daily life. Between renovating and moving, the one thing I always looked forward to my 5K to release the stresses!
Setting aside the time to meditate has greatly helped with mental health.

Mentally, I feel like I am learning to better convince myself to partake in the good things and not let fear or anything reign in my mind

    2. I can push through pain to finish what I have started.
    3. same as above, I fell on May 13th and have a partial tear in my ACL and meniscus, yet have still pushed on. Honestly if it hadn’t rained for the first part of the month I might have quit after this injury. Since I walked through the mud and rain I didn’t want all of that to be for nothing. I literally have limped through the last part of this and it takes me twice as long as usual. Apparently I have issues with needing to finish what I have started. lol

  127. Yes, I’m not sure about my answers off the top of my head for #2 & #3. I’m always glad for the satisfaction of a challenge completed even if I’m not always as excited about the challenge.

    2. What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?
Doing 5k’s as a family has been a lot of fun. I have learned how fast you complete is not not as important as the time we get to spend together. They have not all been fun or easy but we have grown during this time.

  137. 1. yes still in it
    2. That even on the busiest of days I can still make time to focus a little time on my health.

I’ve learned how to push through the mental exhaustion and keep going. It’s helped me grow physically and mentally in my fitness journey.

  141. Yes, I have done a 5k everyday.

I have learned that the most crucial part (of almost any decision) is not made when I am actually climbing up to the peak, but long before that when I stood at the bottom and stared at the task ahead. If you establish the belief right then and don’t look back- God will carry you through the rest. But, it takes faith at the start. But hey! just a little Faith like a mustard seed can move mountains.

I have grown in all three areas. While I still don’t love running, haha now I am a runner. The discipline required to finish was solely by the Lord’s strength and His grace. I recognize He gives this steadfastness for way more than just 5k challenges. Hey! I have also learned how far in my town a 3 mile run can take you. 😂

  142. 1. yes
    2. Making a commitment can be a strong motivating factor=)
    3. I believe it has reminded me that i need to drop some weight. Carrying extra weight for 31 days of running is no fun.

Yesterday I had to walk to our annual Memorial Day Parade and I found that I didn’t get out of breath like I usually do. So, I feel as though I must have increased my endurance physically if nothing else. I do enjoy my daily time spent in reflection.

  144. 1. Yes I’ve ran a 5k every day
    2. Getting motivated to start is harder then actually running.
    3. Having a Goal is good for me. Otherwise I procrastinate and never get anything done.

  145. 1. Yes, I’ve been walking every day!

    2. I’ve learned that I’m able to do more than I thought. With just having my 5th child in January I didn’t think walking an hour everyday would be possible, so I surprised myself by making it this far.

    3. My legs have definitely grown stronger! Lol and I was able to get the boost I needed to lose some of the baby weight so I definitely plan to keep on walking!
I was also able to appreciate more of God’s beauty with walking everyday. I also enjoyed having the set time everyday to the listen to the Bible and pray more every day. So I’ve grown in setting better habits and keeping them every day.

  146. 1) yes
    2) I can do hard things
    3) I have physically grown by carrying to my current 26 weeks pregnant and healthy!

  147. Yes everyday
I can do a 5k even when I’m tired and don’t want to.
I have loved the podcasts and the music. I really enjoy how Jeff reads the Bible almost like you would to a child. It comes to life.

  148. 1. Every Day ✅
    2. I’ve learned I can stick to going hard things that don’t come naturally to me.
    3. All types of health (physical, spiritual, mental, etc) are linked in some way, I believe because of discipline. The more disciplined you grow in one area, may be the catalyst for growth in another.

  149. Yes! Enjoying the time and disciplines of the podcast bible readings and the walking. I learned it makes me mentally stronger to be physically stronger. Thanks so much for coordinating this awesome challenge!

    • You bet! 5k+ everyday!

I had to work through some back issues during the middle of the month, but can honestly say this challenge has been great! In better shape than I have been in in a long time and dropped 10 lbs! The best part is the bounds with my brothers have grown stronger as we all worked through the challenge together!

Planning to continue with this life style and see if I can’t be as good as Mike Schlabach!!

  150. Yes, I have completed my 5k every day.

I have learned that there is always time in the day for a workout- you just have to find it, or make it!

I am motivated to sign up for more challenges and races- it’s the best way to keep on track!

  151. Yes, I have ran/walked every day!

Being accountable to the group I am running with has helped me stay disciplined.

I have gotten time to pray, mentally turn-off, get into shape, and tangibly accomplish something each day.

  152. Yes, I have completed a 5k every day this month so far.
I have learned that I am very stubborn and won’t stop even when I was feeling awful from being sick.
This challenge is both humbling and affirming. At the age of 53 I am no longer (not that I ever actually was) “super runner.” It is ok to have good and bad running days.

  153. 1. Yes I have ran/walked 3.1 miles everyday this month!
    2. There is always time to do something for yourself everyday, just do it.
    3. This has motivated me to continue running/walking everyday. I love to challenge myself and this has been a key componet.

  154. Yes!
That my ridiculous determination can in fact, be a help instead of a hindrance 😅
Love the feeling of accomplishment. It’s also motivated me to eat healthier, be more disciplined and manage my time better this month.

    • I have ran all days but 2, those were walks. I don’t realize I had the strength to get up every single day and run. I’ve realized that I am ready to keep training and run 26.2 miles in October.

  155. 1. Yes, we’ve completed a 5k everyday….most days we’ve done more.

    2. We’ve found how much we enjoy doing this together and finding the time to make sure we complete our goals, even if it’s in the dark! Our 10 year old yesterday said how much fun she’s had and said she’d be sad it was over, so we told here it doesn’t have to be and we’ll keep doing this together 😊!

    3. This has helped show us that even in our chaotic schedule, carving out just a little bit of time to focus and connect makes a world of difference in our day, attitudes and helping us keep focused on what’s important.

  156. Yes, 5k every day!
I learned that I can make time for exercise even on the busiest days if I prioritize!
I love the mental health that exercise brings along with time to think, pray, and listen to uplifting content.

  157. Yes
I always feel better after a run or walk even when I don’t want to do it.
    Accountability drives me.

  158. Yes! It’s been a game changer to get up and do it first thing in the morning and be able to listen to the podcast in the quiet of the morning 😊

  159. Cayden Hooten:- 13 year old

    YES
Balance time to be able to run daily – endurance and dedication
Looking forward to the run everyday, achieving something I have never done before.

  160. 1. Yes
    2. I can do anything I set my mind to, no excuses
    3. Always make time even if we get creative and run with kids etc.

  161. 1. Yes, still in it.
    2. Some days are easier than others and I can push through the hard days.
    3. I still have a long way to go in life, but I can trust in Jesus to help get through.

  162. 1. Yes.
    2. I learned I don’t always have to beat myself. I started this coming out of an injury and the first 2 weeks were very tough. Lot’s of pain but by the 3rd week things felt better and I just made sure I ran and didn’t try to “compete” with myself.
    3. Mental and physical go hand in hand.

  163. 1. YES!!!!
    2. I’m reminded of how nice it is to have a time each day to get outside!
    3. I love having this as a part of each day – it supports my physical health (getting those steps in!), mental health (time away from work, screens, etc.), and relational health (time to walk with a friend or call a family member).

  164. Yes. Still in it.
I’ve learned that I can still do it without an acl.
I’ve learned that a small challenge like this can help get over a serious injury.

  165. 1. Yes, I did a 5k every day in May.

    2. I learned how much better I feel mentally, physically, and spiritually when I am out walking every day. It’s my time to process, pray, and listen to good music or podcasts. It’s where I hear God best.

    3. I also learned that meeting challenges (both the 5k and metaphorically in life) is something always best done in community. Seeing the pictures of others in my church who were doing the 5ks, walking with friends, and also having a key person in my life who cheered me on and made sure I got the challenges done even when it didn’t feel possible (like when I was traveling).

  166. 1. Yes, I have gotten at least 3.1 miles in every day so far.
    2. I am in a better “head space” after carving out a block of time for myself.
    3. It is important to enjoy the moment and be grateful that I am able to put in those miles.

  167. 1. Yes I’m still it!
    2. Need people on the journey with you. Usually I run on my own but somedays need the support of my family and dog to walk with me to get in the miles.
    3. Love listening to the podcasts and the different perspectives on the gospel. A reminder that you always need to be curious and always learning.

  168. 1. Yes! Nathan and William Yoder are still in the challenge. The rest of the family unfortunately came down with the stomach bug and ended up pulling out of the challenge.
    2. That you can push your body more than you realize.
    3. Even though some of us had to drop out, we have really loved spending time daily walking and reading/or listening to scripture together. It has made for some special family time together as we’ve worked on this challenge together.

    • Awesome!! Sounds like it has been a great challenge for you. Sorry to hear about the stomach bug.

  169. Yes. Have walked 3.1 every day

    2. I really have to be intentional. This month was so busy with a mission trip and graduation parties. It meant getting up at 5:15 to be able to get it in. It meant being exhausted at times.

    3. I’m not sure about specific growth through this. This is my third year and I always feel good about completing a challenge and I can do it if I set my mind to it. I do have to think if my priorities are right with making this so important that other things get pushed aside or like during the mission trip I was exhausted getting this in but it was because I didn’t want to fail. So I do have to evaluate what my motives are and for next year decide if this comes first over other things I am doing. I don’t want to make this an idol in my life either.

  170. 1. Yes
    2. Sunshine makes me happy.
    3. Learning to enjoy the moment and be thankful for the small things.

    2. Discipline doesn’t mean we always feel motivated, and I’ve never once regretted going out and doing it even in the days I thought there was know way I had the energy. The sunshine is good for my mood!
    3. Learning to ask for help and that’s ok. I’ve had many family members and friends who’ve been willing to walk with me even if they aren’t doing the challenge just to make it a little easier and a few days I can distinctly give them credit for me getting it done! Community is everything, and I hope everyone spends time building theirs!

  174. Yes I have successfully completed a 5K every day in the month of May!
I can get things done even when I think I don’t have time or have any other excuse…too tired, it’s rainy, cold, etc!
I’m growing in making better choices to be active and read the Bible instead of watch tv.

  175. 1. Yes
    2. I’ve learned that I can do a 5k every day in the month of May.

  180. What I have learned is that I can run at 4:30 in the morning and my day is so much better when I do, and I can run every day and will likely continue to do so!

    2. I’ve learned that it’s possible for me to complete a 5k everyday even on a really full schedule…you just have to get a little creative!
    3. I would say that I have grown in mental stamina.

  186. I have run a 5K every day.
I have learned that it is a mental exercise to listen to the 3 chapters of Scripture each day and stay engaged in the text.
I have learned just how much that running is very mental – pushing yourself to keep running even when your body is telling you to quit. (Accountability makes ALL the difference!)

  187. I have walked or run at least a 5k daily. Makes one realize, you really do have time. All of mine have been outside in nature. So glad I took on this challenge! Thanx so much for organizing this and getting us all off the couch. 😃

  188. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023?
    YES

What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?

I commit to this challenge so all in . . . .even with being sick, I got my 5K in everyday.

In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?
Mentally I have grown to know I can do it and be accountable even when you really don’t want to get out out there and get the miles in. Just take one step at a time and it will get you to your goal.

  189. 1.Yes
2.I’ve relearned how much consistency is helpful in getting stronger and going further.

    2. I try my hardest to do this, it is very hard.
    3. I hope to be on my way to getting healthier, stronger, but right now, I feel the same as I have.

  191. Yes I’ve successfully walked 5k everyday in May. 2. I learned I like to walk it with my wife early in the day. 3. Dug into the Word and learned to just keep pushing thru even when it’s hard.

  192. Yes, only 2 more 5k runs left!
This challenge has shown me doing hard things is more rewarding than making excuses.
Emotionally and mentally its helped to create habits and running without audio has been a great way to think and clear my mind. Physically I am not sure I can still PR my 5k time but I now have great base miles for the Columbus marathon. Spiritually reading 3 chapters everyday has been refreshing and something I plan to stick with through the remainder of the NT.

    • Awesome!! Columbus Marathon sounds like fun! Glad the 3 chapters per day is going to stick with you!!

  193. 1. Yes I am still in it! 2 days left !

    2. When I set a goal that I am willing to see it through.

    3. Emotionally my legs have been hurting a little so talking a walk is just as good to help with the stress. Mentally, I am a teacher so running helps me with that he last month of stress!
Physically, even with my legs hurting I have PR my last 2 5k’s. In the past 3 days! Running as fast as I could for 1 mile in the daily challenge really showed I could do it! Spiritually, I started late with the podcasts. But really enjoyed them.

  194. Yes, I’m still in this!

I have learned even though sometimes I don’t want to do this today…. To still do it and giving God the glory for the strength to get a 5k done for that day.

I have grown a lot energy wise as well as spiritually. Through listening to podcasts, music, or a book of the Bible on my walk.

  195. Yes I am still in 5K a day. I have learned to push myself even when I really didn’t want to. But also how encouraging my friend group helps keep you motivated. I really appreciated all the text messages ,selfies pictures and encouraging words to keep going. I think I have grown mentally stronger for sure. I am happy with my dedication and determination to see this through the end. Learned how to make the time to fit it in even when busy and traveling. My knees are not happy though.

  196. I am still in the 5k.
I have learned that I can do hard thingS EVERY DAY for 3.1+ miles:).
Physically my body does not like a 5k EVERYDAY. I will be making an orthopedic appointment for my left knee and my right ankle🤦🏽‍♀️.
Spiritually I have enjoyed the podcasts with Jeff and the different speakers he had on. They were uplifting and thought provoking.

Walking with my daughter everyday was an added bonus too 🥰. I look forward to continuing with the 5k!!

  197. Still running!
I learned from the runs this month that it takes effort to plan runs. There were days I had to run faster, days I ran before bed or got up early. I generally had a regular schedule the last few years for the challenge but this year things came up and life happened. Making your goals a priority can be uncomfortable and difficult at times but it’s worth it to reach the end.
I feel the emotional and spiritual growth aligned with the same lessons as before. It was just a good month!

  198. So far so good.
I’m definitely ready for a day or two off; but it always feels good to have finished a run.

  199. 1.Yes I have ran/walk everyday in may

After a month of doing the same route almost every day (I did run a few different places, but mostly the same route) I need to change it up to keep it interesting and fun. It was neat hearing the Bible each day and going through each gospel quickly enough to sort of compare them.

Just being able to say I did it is enough push to do it.

  212. Yes. 5K Every. Single. Day. I learned that if my wife signs me up for it and does it, I’m going to do it too. (Hint hint to all the wives out there). It has been a joy learning more about the Bible!

    • Yes, I am still going strong!
I have learned to give myself more self care time.
Throughout this challenge I’ve grown physically, pushing myself daily (it also helps that my dogs love walking with me) to Walker longer each week. I’ve have grown mentally by pushing through barriers that I never thought I could.

  213. 1. Yes!
    2. Making time for something that is important to you is ok. Life doesn’t always have to be about obligations.
    3. I have started sleeping better 🙂

  214. 1. Yep! Every day!
    2. I’ve learned where there’s a will, there’s a way. There were a few days I wasn’t sure I would get it in due to travels but I worked it out!
    3. I’ve grown stronger mentally. It’s been a month of craziness and change. My 5K each day has given me time to think and pray and have good conversations with my boys. It has also allowed me intentional time to spend walking with friends and even my husband joined me for a couple days!

  215. Yes I have successfully completed a 5k a day this month. It’s really been wonderful, it’s a peaceful time for me to reflect on life, I have had others join me on certain days this month and it’s really been very fulfilling for to say the least. It’s been a blessing and I don’t plan to stop.

  221. #1 Although there were some days I wasn’t sure how I would find time to run/walk the 5k. I have run/walked the entire month so far. There were also days I just didn’t feel like it. #2 A good friend of mine that I would run with often was always telling me I need to trust the process. With that being said I have learned how to listen to my body on bad days and learned it is ok to walk some days. I have gotten better at “trusting the process”. Most important I have also learned to manage time with my wife and kids. As much as I would like to run everyday(trying always to set a speed record for myself)with my headphones in and burning 🔥 those extra calories that you won’t burn walking. It nice to take the boys along with me down to the park and see them enjoying themselves. They learned how to ride without training wheels and have been have a blast riding at the park down the road, during this whole challenge. My wife and newborn would could along also. #3 maybe a little emotional growth. I have definitely grown mentally and physically. Exercise = major mental growth for me. Not sure it this would count as spiritual growth necessarily. But when I run I definitely appreciate the beauty of nature that god has created. Definitely not the same experience you would get driving.

Pain lasts for but a moment, a t-shirt lasts about three years.

Personally I found I had more determination (maybe stupidity) than I thought I did. I’m also learning to practice patience and at times even anger management.

  235. 1. I have successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023.
    2. I learned I can sneak in a 5k almost anywhere.
    3. Hmmm….this is my 3rd 5k may. The first time was huge for me personally cause I hate running and never considered doing such a thing. The second my wife did with me and we had some great conversation as we made our way through the neighborhood each day. This time? I’m honestly not sure Jeff. I’m sure I’ve grown. Maybe I’m just in a weird mood today. Does that ever happen to y’all?

    • Haha. Yeah. That happens.

I have found two things to always be true:

      1. God is always teaching.

      2. I am not always paying attention to what He is teaching.

  236. Yea still doing the 5k’s

It’s good to push but listening to the body is good.

I have enjoyed the podcast. This year I enjoyed listening to them on most of my running. There’s always new things that stick out when going through the Bible. The challenge came at the right time. I had a stroke about a month before and I think I could have easily talked myself into not run but it kept me motivated and I think I’ve came through the recovery strong cause of running.

  237. I have continued my 5k everyday, had lots of company throughout the month (some doing the challenge others who will hopefully join in next yr.)
I have learned no matter where I am or how exhausted I maybe the good lord always gives me strength!

  238. 1. Yes everyday!
    2. I have learned some serious commitment there was totally some hard days this month some LONG days but we got it in got it done!
    3. Ive loved the 1:1 time (well occasional more when some kids come ) but have had a great time and met some great people along the way!

  239. 1) Yep! “By hook or by crook” I have gotten it done! Even one time while waiting several hours for a flight…I changed into my running clothes and got it done!!!

    2) In my third year I learned that I really can achieve anything I set my mind out to achieve.

    3) In addition to the podcasts that I only learned about half way through this program, I do the daily Bible Recap by Tara Leigh Cobble. Always good to have multiple Bible readings throughout the day.

      • For Randy, Nicole, Gavin, and Grayson as well.

        1. Yes, we all have!
        2. We’ve learned that May has only gotten busier the older everyone gets, but 5K May is a must anyway. For me personally I learned that as I suspected, walking most of my 5ks (because of baby’s needs) is mentally MUCH harder than getting to run most of them.
        3. We have all grown stronger physically, and it’s been a good jumpstart on keeping up with summer Bible reading.

  240. 1. I have walked and/or ran a 5k everyday in May!
    2. I love challenges, but I already knew that lol.

    3. I have really understood I don’t have to run every 5k as if it’s a race. I have made challenges for myself in the past to run miles faster, longer etc. This year, I just did a 5k everyday. This was the first time I have walked/hiked any of the 5ks and it didn’t change the challenge for me at all. It is still one of my favorite things throughout the year! Thanks again for hosting this challenge Jeff!

  241. Yes, I have successfully completed a 5k every day so far.
I don’t know if I knew this before or not, but I can walk faster and keep up the pace when I am walking with someone.
I have really enjoyed the podcast on the days I listened to it, especially the Scripture reading and commentary. I have learned things from that, and it has helped me be more consistent with getting in the Word.

  242. I’m still in it! J7st finished day 30 5k.
I’ve learned that I’m ready to be done and take a break!

  243. Yes, I’ve included my 3 year old alot of the days and learned it’s not about speed or path taken it’s about the journey and getting to the end. She has taught me to be more flexible in this achievement just as in all other aspects of my life.💕

  244. 1. Yes.
    2. May is quite the busy month. Also learned a lot can be accomplished by prioritization.
    3. I have definitely grown in the area of perseverance.

  245. Yes, I have completed a 5k every day so far in the month of May. I am learning that I need to be accountable for my health and the way I feel. It’s my responsibility to take care of the body that Jesus gave me. With doing this every day I find more time to talk with Jesus and reflect on things. It’s not been easy but it has been worth it.

  246. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023?

Yes, it hasn’t been easy though.

What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?

The accountability really helps to keep me moving and motivated.

In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually?

I believe I have improved my physical strength and endurance…and maybe even determination.

  247. 1. No I have not. I missed 3 days.
    2. I have learned that I need to work on my time management and the importance of good quality sleep.
    3. I have realized that when I missed the first day on the 19th that I felt a little disappointed in myself. I’m still gonna finish the month and try to continue throughout June to see how long I can go.

    • Way to keep going , even with some missed days. That dedication is worth more than a t-shirt, for sure.

  248. -yes
-it is easier to stick with an exercise routine when doing it as part of a challenge.
-i feel better mentally and physically when exercising.

  249. Very happy to say YES!

I think this is my third year participating, and am still just as amazed as I was the first year to find myself finishing out the month. Especially after some of those really tough days (for me at least) that come toward the end of the second week, start of the third. A good reminder also that keeping a steady target, one that both pushes me but forces me to slow down and not charge ahead too fast if I want to be able to show up and acheive the next day, is much more powerful and successful. Now the next hard thing to try- to keep it going!

Overall I am very grateful for the community aspect of the challenge and for finding myself much more upbeat on all fronts than I was at the start of the month. Thank you all so much !!!

  250. -yes
-i am more motivated to keep up up with my exercise when part of a challenge
    -i have grown stronger.

  251. 1. Yes! Some were late at night. Some were at the numerous national parks in the area. All were longer than a 5k!

    2. I’m impressed that I have been able to continue doing them. The issues I have with my knees and feet made it a significant challenge but I fought through it. I also somehow injured my right knee near the beginning but if there’s one thing I learned in the military, ignore the pain, Motrin and water fix everything, keep pressing forward.

    3. Physically I’ve definitely gotten faster regarding the 5k. I only got under 50 minutes once but it was epic! Spiritually I’ve never read through any of the Bible this quick and am gaining greater knowledge. The aim is to put it into practice moreso. I aim to start this goal tomorrow and pray at the capitol building over our government and elected officials. Lord knows they can use it.

    • That is awesome!! Where are you located? I love that idea of praying at the capital building over our government and elected officials!

      • I currently live in Herndon, VA. It’s just under an hour Metro ride into the heart of DC for me.

  252. yes
I have learned that I can actually follow through with an absolutely CRAZY idea to walk/run 5k every day for 30 whole days in a row.
I think I have grown mentally because now I know that I can accomplish pretty much anything if I have accomplished something like this.

    • 1. Yes, I’m still in!
      2. I’ve learned I have time in my day to exercise- I just need to make it a priority (even if it means getting up super early in the morning before a long day begins).
      3. I think having the first couple days of crappy Ohio weather actually helped me complete this challenge this year. There were 2 times I really felt like quitting- but then I remembered walking outside in the cold, wind, and rain at the beginning of the month and I couldn’t give up on myself. Thanks for organizing this 🙂

  253. 1. Yes
    2. I have learned that I feel good about being able to say I’m going to go do my 5K today.
    3. I appreciate having accountability to do.

  254. 1. Yes
    2. I have learned that including others made walking more enjoyable.
    3. I have grown to have more of an appreciation for the ordinary everyday things.

  255. Yes, cut it close once.
My dogs being overweight was my own fault. We both needed more self love.
This has totally reinvigorated my passion for fitness. Need to keep it rolling into June!

  256. I have run at least a 5k everyday in May. I learned I am pretty determined to do the challenge if I set myself up to do it. I am self-motivated to attempt any challenges I set myself up for.

  257. 1. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023? Yes!
    2. What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? It gets easier! It’s mostly mental! It’s great for you physically, emotionally, and mentally! It’s fun having others to do it with and to keep sharing it.
    3. In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? Odd that I just answered with those before reading question three. Locking in the tough-mindedness. The more you do it, the more committed and easier it becomes. Building habits. Getting out there and moving the body always confirms the mental benefits! You can see the little changes in the body from the exercise! Confidence, motivation, and comfortability!

  258. 1- Yes! 5K every day!
2- I’ve learned to make time for things that are beneficial for me mentally and spiritually
3- I’ve grown physically and spiritually throughout this month. I had a falling out with who I thought was a good friend. Before responding to a message I went for my run and took time to meditate and pray. I was able to respond with a clear mind and unfortunately it was clear I was to remove that person from my life for spiritual growth. God gives and takes away.

  259. 1. Yes I have!
    2. I am more capable than I realized.
    3. Physically I have changed a lot. During the month I broke two speed barriers I never thought I would reach again. While if I am being honest. I put a lot more time and energy into running than I did spending personal time with my Heavenly Father. I have been very busy this month but I have made time for this running. Makes me realize I need to make time for God and spending quality time tiger my family.

  260. Even though this end-of-the-school-year was one of the craziest I’ve ever seen, I have indeed managed a 5k a day! I prefer to do them in the morning as I feel better and have more energy, but some days it couldn’t be helped but to do it later. I have learned (again this year), that walking 5ks is not my favorite, but with the tiredness my body is experiencing from aforementioned school stress, walking was sometimes the better option. I am also seeing the direct connection between daily running/walking and daily prayer and Bible reading. I struggle to do that and often blame my tiredness, but I’d I can walk a 5k, I can certainly remember to spend time with God! As far as growth goes, I am also happy to report that I have been able to get my walking miles below 20 minutes on occasion!

  261. 1. Yes
    2. I realized how fun it is not only to get my own 5k in, but also to help others with theirs.
    3. Physically I think I am a lot stronger (especially after mayhem).

  262. Yes I did.
I learned that I enjoy the time of being out in nature and focus on things outside of work and the regular day to day rush.
I was able to calm myself and grew to feel my need for that time.

  263. Yes. I can do this, even though it has seemed more inconvenient and harder than the last time I participated. I might be learning that more physical exercise is not really what my body needs right now, as I already have intensive physical activity with my cleaning jobs. I have been so hungry, and don’t need to be losing weight! So probably I should focus on cooking well and eating well instead. 😆 Probably not the typical conclusion made after this challenge, but so be it.

  264. Yes, I did complete the daily 5k. For me, the 5k a day in May forces me to take time to focus on myself during the crazy end of the school year time.

  265. Yes I have made it a little rough this year! I know that it’s important to take the time to enjoy the walk as not so much as how quick I can get it done but to enjoy the beauty of what’s around me! I e been doing this for several years and as I look back my knees don’t enjoy it as much but my heart does I love the morning sky’s the evening calm that settles you into a peacefulness so I hope come next year I can do this as for this year I will make it and I will continue to walk maybe not as long or every day but I so love what God has created for all of us to have !!!!

  266. Yes
That I can run like Tyreek Hill
Yes, my quads are huge my thighs and calves are bulging out of my legs I’m in the best shape of my life right now
    -Isaiah Rhodes

  267. 1. Yes
    2. I learned I am able to talk myself into doing this even when it’s the absolute last thing I’d like to do
    3. I mentally am stronger. I Can do hard things.

  268. I checked in and commented around noonish, but I still don’t see it. Hopefully you received it. Thanks

  269. 1. Yes
    2. I can do hard things if I set my mind to it.
    3. I’m learning to do things even when I don’t feel like it.

  270. Yes I have walked a 5K every day in May.

Walking in the same place every day makes it seems hours long, but walking in different places makes it seem shorter and more fun.

I have learned that it’s not good to walk in a dress and boots.

  271. 1. With the exception of 3 days, I have made time in my schedule to walk 3.1 miles a day this month

    2. This challenge has been a great reminder to give myself grace. I was frustrated at being sick and missing two days, but I knew I had to give my body a chance to heal, and give myself grace. The 3rd missed day was spent traveling and after a late arrival home, my focus was on making sure my kiddo was set for school the next day (I had to choose between going for a walk or giving my child the attention needed). Life happens and while goals are important, having grace with one’s self when a goal is missed is also important.

    3. During this challenge, I have been spending a lot more time in prayer and quietness in Gods Presence, and I have spent a bit of time reading scripture about prayer. It has been so encouraging and insightful. And I have learned to give myself grace, especially if I have done my best to reach a planned goal, only to fall a bit short (just gotta tighten my shoelaces and get back out there and try again).

  272. Yes, I have done a 5k every day! Split up with some days walking, some “wogging” (walk/jog) and some days running the entire thing.
I’ve learned that if I actually set a goal I am much more likely to follow through and complete it.
I’ve grown physically and mentally, and learned that I can push myself more than I thought.

  273. 1. Yes I have successfully walked a 5k every day in May.

    2. I have learned that I can do it even if I don’t feel like it.

    3. I have learned to be more thankful for things.

  274. Yes

I have learned I do have time for stuff like this

I have grown in my running endurence

  275. I have done the 5k every day! I’ve learned to listen to my body and take it easy when I need to. I’ve also learned that running is not as daunting as it seems.

  276. 1.Yes
    2. Having an accountability group makes it so much more fun!
    3. Daily regular exercise releases endorphins which is awesome for physical and mental well-being.

  277. Yes! I enjoy the challenge of getting up earlier in the morning. I feel refreshed mentally, physically and spiritually with the extra time talking to God and listening to good worship music.

  278. 1. Yes! I have successfully ran and walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far!
    2. I learned that it is easier for me to complete a run/walk challenge of 3.1 miles every day than complete a dieting challenge 🙂 Oh, and I learned that I am stronger than I gave myself credit for!
    3. It has definitely been a huge emotional and mental challenge for me throughout this challenge. Finding time to balance work and fit time in to either run or walk was probably my biggest challenge of all. I am even more thankful for the strong body God has given me! This challenge has helped me grow a stronger mental mindset and really helped me put my priorities in order.

  279. Yes!

Running is more about the strength in the mind than the strength in the quads. Even the strength in the quads is definitely a plus.

I have become extremely ripped over the last month. My abs are chiseled, and my biceps are extremely firm. Oh, I suppose that doesn’t have to do anything with running.

  280. 1. Yes I have!

    2. Never walk your 5K at night on a driveway in the middle of nowhere. Every noise that you hear will make your liver quiver. I have learned that I don’t like to run.

    3. I have grown stronger by being persistent at getting my 5k done, even in the dark.

  281. 1. Yes!
    2. I’ve learned that fresh air and exercise is so so important for me.
    3. After doing a month of intentional walking in my urban neighborhood, I’ve become less self conscious of myself. My brain also feels clearer and I think I can process things better than before. And I learned to know my roomie better; we did it together as much as we could😊

  282. Yes still in it !! I’m not as disciplined as I thought I was but I’m enjoying my chats with my daughter

  283. 1. Yes
    2. Even though May has been busy I still have pushed through. Even if it meant getting up early some days.
    3. It has been good for me to put my phone down and spend time with God enjoying nature. Not that I did that every time.

  284. 1. Yes
    2. That I have more time than I thought
    3. It’s a lot easier to do a 5k now than it was at first

  285. Yes completed 5k everyday so far.
I have learned if I need to run every day I can somehow find a way to get it done.!
    It has been great.!

  286. yes
I have learned that I can run/walk a 5k every day and I might try to continue through June.
I think that I have become a stronger runner and during this month God has talked to me about many different things !

  287. Yes!

I have learned that doing an “intentional” 3.1 miles per day is much more beneficial for me than setting a certain step goal each day.

I have deepend my relationship with the Lord by spending my walking time each day with Him.

  288. Yes
It is hard to find time to fit in a 5k every day. It is a balancing act between work, family, and life.

  289. 1. Still in it.
    2. I have learned that I need some sort of motivation to push myself sometimes.
    3. I have definitely grown physically in this challenge. I’ve been sidelined from running and this challenge has kept me from being a complete couch potato. Also, it has kept me mentally sane by forcing me to get out even on days I don’t feel like it.

  290. 1) Yes I’ve done a 5k all 30 days
    2) I’ve learned that my legs hurt
    3) I feel that I have become more disciplined over the course of the month

  291. 1. Yes I have walked or run everyday
    2. I have learned that we make time for what is important to us. I love the challenge of finding time to do a 5k even on the busy days. I did some early mornings and later nights, but loved every minute!
    3. I love that even though these were books of the Bible that I’ve read often, I always continue to learn and grow each time l read them. There is always something new that becomes clear to me in a way it never did before. Thanks so much for the work you and your family put into this challenge!

  292. Day 30, complete. 1 more to go. It is going to be interesting once the challenge is finished, what will I do with that extra time everyday.

I wish I was able to run, but some knee issues keep me at a quick walk.

Grown closer with my wife, even though she keeps me accountable to be sure I have completed the 5K everyday.

  293. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023?
    Yes!

What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge?
I really love having accountable partners!

In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge
I had one of my faster 5k times in a long time during this challenge and also one of the slowest. I allowed myself to have those feel good runs, the easier walks and the walks that turned into runs just to get it over with!

  294. 1. Yes, still stepping it off everyday, although today was hard—think maybe I am still recovering from a busy weekend (or the 16 mile bike ride in the afternoon heat), which brings me to number two…

    2. I have learned it is great to have a friend who you can call on those days you just don’t feel quite up to it and say “hey, you want to get out and do a 5K with me,” and they say yes.

    3. I definitely feel like I have improved my consistency with exercising and improved physically in the last month, as well as been more conscious of spending time in prayer. It has been a good month, thank you!

  295. 1. Yes!
    2. I learned I am not as in shape as I thought I was.
    3. I’ve seen physical growth.

  296. 1. Yes!
    2. I have learned that I can do harder things than what I thought I could.
    3. I feel like I’ve gotten stronger physically.

  297. Yes!! 4th time attempting and 1st time

Even though it was hard and I wanted to quit a few times I had some amazing friends holding me accountable and didn’t want to let them down!

I have learned that it is possible to take an hour to myself and complete this challenge!!

  298. 1. Yes I have completed a 5k every day
    2. I have learned that if I can schedule time to run a 5k everyday, then I can manage my time better for other things
    3. I feel that this has shown me that even though there are times you want to give up, pushing a little further can lead to a nice outcome. It is rewarding to have accomplished this.

  299. 1. Yes!
    2. I’ve learned the discipline of a 5k every day translates to discipline in other areas of life too.
    3. The physical exercise is really good for me but so is getting outside every day. Most of May has been beautiful. I also enjoy all the 5ks with friends and family and the relational part.

  300. Yes, I’ve finished them all
I’ve learned more about running and how to take care of yourself while running

  301. Yes I’ve completed everyday! It shows that anything can be a priority if you truly stay consistent. I’ve learned that I can commit to something and mentally overcome barriers I set on myself!!

  302. 1.Yes
    2. Learned that just because you don’t feel like it doesn’t me you can’t do it.
    3. Had several days of sickness and just had to pray through it.

  303. 1. Yes!
    2. I’ve learned that walking goes much faster and better with friends/family.
    3. I’ve definitely grown physically, and mentally also. Fresh air and time to think will do that. I’ve also grown spiritually. I love listening to the podcast!!

  304. Yes, I’ve finished them all
It’s easier to get it done in the morning
I can run the whole thing this year!

  305. Yes!! I have successfully completed a 5k every day so far!!! I have learned that there are a lot of hard things in life that are very beneficial and worth putting in the effort to complete! And I have grown a lot spiritually on the walks and runs, usually getting the chance to talk with close friends who are doing it with me about our relationship with the Lord, or just using that extra time to pray!! What a blessing it’s been in many ways!!!

  306. Yes! I have done my 5k every single day so far in May.

I’ve learned that walking through the field in the early mornings is a bit more dewy then rewarding; evening walks are my favorite. I’ve also learned NOT to save my walks for the dark, because I have the gift of finding every ankle-breaker pothole on the path. Oh, and I can walk faster than my sister can run. “Lapping” her during one of our walks was quite enjoyable 🙂

Prioritizing time to walk 3 miles each day has been so rewarding! The walking has definitely benefitted my physical health, and an hour of solitude to just hang with the dogs and the deer ticks feeds my soul! Listening to worship music while I walk, talking to Jesus, and just staying in silence has grown me spiritually.

  307. 1. Yes! Hoping to keep it up into June and on!!
    2. Taking time for myself and prioritizing that. I always struggled to prioritize myself
    3. Physically, i can push myself more than i thought i was able to. Mentally/spiritually just taking time to be outside and appreciate God’s work.

  308. Have you successfully run and / or walked at least 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May 2023? YES.

What have you learned about yourself throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? I can do things I never thought was possible for myself.

In what ways do you think you have personally grown emotionally, mentally, physically, and / or spiritually throughout this #5kMay2023 challenge? Never giving up especially when it feels like the better option.

  309. Yes, I’ve been walking/jogging at least 5K every day. I’ve learned that walking makes me hungry!😅I’ve gotten a bit better at running, I think. I haven’t done a lot of it before this but am planning to keep up with at least some after May. Hopefully my endurance and time will improve! (That said, I’m very ready for this challenge to be completed 😉)

  310. 1. Yes I am still in!
    2. Most times I like to put things off till the last minute but it’s always best to knock things out early
    3. Overall more strength and endurance!

  311. I have finished every 5k each day in May plus extra!
I have learned that I can handle what I thought would be a difficult challenge just by going head-on into it!
I have grown mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually in this endeavor by just doing it every day regardless of the weather or any other distractions. I have realized that I can do whatever I put my mind
to! It has been a lot of fun and the month of May passed quickly because of this!

  312. yes and I want to do it again! learned to prioritize workout out and that i can do anything if i put my mind to it

  313. Yes, some days have been a challenging but we pushed through.
    I need better planning Lol
You can do it if you just put your head down and get started

  314. 1.Yes!
    2. First time I got be a dad doing it! Walking with my son has been special.
    3. Grown so much in prayer…. Can’t replace that connections

  315. 1. Yes
    2. I can do this! This is my first and wasn’t sure if I could finish but here I am with one only more to go!
    3. I can now run way more during my 5k than just a walk pace at the beginning.

  316. 1. Still going strong, one last big day tomorrow.
    2. The only easy day was yesterday.
    3. Everytime I run I feel stronger mentally and physically. I look forward to this each year. Great challenge when you have friends doing it with you.

  317. Yes, still at it! I’ve learned that I can keep my word to myself and I’ve grown through prayer during this time that I have devoted to the 5k a day. Rewarding experience!

    • 1. I have successfully walked 3.1 miles every day so far in the month of May! All praise to God!
      2. If I really want something done, I can do it! Even if sacrifices need to be made.
      3. Intentional walks are therapeutic to me mentally. It’s a way of unwinding. I love walking with my husband, who done many 5Ks with me this month! We talk about our day, life goals, family goals, what’s on our mind, etc.
The times I walked by myself, I spent time with God, drawing strength to finish the 5Ks, and thanking Him for all that He has done in my life and what He is doing.

  318. I have completed 3.1 miles each day! I have learned that I am more stubborn and determined than I thought I was 🙂 There were times it was 9 oclock at night and I was out walking because I hadn’t gotten my 5k in yet. My dogs have loved it because they have joined me for every run/walk!

  319. 1. Yes! Besides 2 sick days.
    2. Pushing myself. Time management.
    3. Self motivation. Keeping a positive mindset!

  320. Yes
I have wanted to quit or just go to bed but it’s been really fun the next day feeling refreshed
I think the best part have been the fun runs with others I don’t normally run with

  321. I have successfully walked or ran every day.

    Time management for sure.

Best part is seeing what I am capable of physically and mentally.

    Sorry this is late!!

  322. Such a great sense of accomplishment to run/walk each day.
Time management is always a challenge.
Best part is the sense of accomplishment.
    Sorry to be late.

  323. I have completed all 31 days. I have learned that I CAN do hard things. I have grown mentally knowing I can push myself to do more and I will continue to push myself each day to do more. Thank you for the opportunity!

  324. The last day of May is finally here and I am happy to say that I have done 5 kilometers every day in the month of May. Even though this has been a crazy month getting through this feels really good! Thank you for the challenge Jeff!

  325. Yes I have done at least 3.1 miles every single day. To me it is important to stick with my words. If I say I’m going to do something, I will do it. Thanks for the challenge. This was the first time I did 5K a Day in May
