Photo Every Day 2023
The Apostle Paul encouraged the churches of Galatia with the following powerful words:
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”
Galatians 3:13, ESV
I took this photo while wandering through the woods at Wooster Memorial Park, in search of an Easter Wireman.
We did not find a wireman.
This photo reminds me of the fact that Jesus Christ laid down His life on a Roman cross (crafted from a tree) so that we could have life by simply trusting in His finished work on the cross -on our behalf!
Jesus didn’t just die for us, He died in our place. He died instead of us.
We are the ones who have sinned. It should have been our backs pressed against the tree. It should have been our hands and our feet pierced, with a nail sticking through them and driven into the tree.
It should have been our death. We are the ones who sinned, who broke God’s good and perfect commands. We are the ones who deserved the curse of death.
But Jesus took the curse that belonged to us upon Himself, being wrongfully hanged on a tree, so that the curse of sin could be forever removed from those who put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.
