#MidweekWorshipConnection | S3E1
Welcome back to the Midweek Worship Connection! We took the month of September off and are back at it for a brand new season and three months worth of the Midweek Worship Connection.
We are going to make a few changes to the schedule for this season. The biggest one is the time. We noticed that we didn’t have a whole lot of people tuning in for the premier each Wednesday at noon on YouTube, so we are moving the premier time to 3pm on Wednesdays. We’ll see if that works any better for people.
The Midweek Worship Connection is a ministry of Jeff Polen Music, and our purpose with the Jeff Polen Music ministry is to point others to Jesus Christ, who is the source of all truth, love, life, and good… and in the process not to miss Him for ourselves.
We started providing the Midweek Worship Connection as a practical way of living out that purpose. Our desire is always to maximize our efforts to make the biggest impact possible.
In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul commended the Christians in Ephesus to
Look carefully … how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
– Ephesians 5:15-16, ESV
Each of us have been given the gift of 24 hours in a day. It is up to us how we choose to use those hours. For those of us who follow Christ, I think Paul’s words are of utmost importance. We need to examine how we are spending those hours, and ask ourselves if we are being wise or unwise.
Let us not forget that days are evil. It is far too easy for us to spend our time unwisely, making no real eternal impact to speak of.
I love what the British cricket player turned missionary, C.T. Studd, once wrote:
Only one life,
– C.T. Studd
’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done
for Christ will last.
So how are you spending your time? Are you spending it wisely? Are we investing well into the kingdom of God, or are we investing foolishly in the kingdom of self, or in the kingdom of this world?
My observation is that we are all way too busy, doing way too many things that really don’t matter in the light of eternity.
I want to offer a super practical exercise for us today. Here it is:
Open your calendar, and get real honest with yourself. Are you spending your time wisely? Are you prioritizing time spent with God? Are you prioritizing time spent caring for others? Is your calendar filled with good things, or with God things?
It may be time for us to do the hard work of pruning out of our lives the things that are not making an eternal, kingdom of God impact. It may be time to make room for the things that God is calling us to do.
The days are evil. It is time for us to look carefully how we are walking, to ensure that we are walking in wisdom, making the best use of our time.
This is something that we are wanting to wrestle through, as well. One of the things we are wondering about is the Midweek Worship Connection. Is this the best use of our time? Are we investing wisely?
We would love for you to help us discern as we wrestle through these questions. If you enjoy the Midweek Worship Connection, and if it is making a difference in your life, would you please take a moment to leave a comment? Let us know what you appreciate about it, how the LORD has used it in your life, or why you think it is a good investment of time on our part.
If you have any suggestions as to what we could do to make it better, or how it could have an even greater impact, we would love to see that kind of input, as well.
We are committed to this third season of the Midweek Worship Connection, but we are leaving it up to you and God as to whether or not we will continue it into 2022.
As you look through your own schedule and try to figure out how best to maximize your time, we pray that the LORD would bless you, that He would keep you, and that He would cause His face to shine upon you and give you peace. Amen.
