Dead Sea Float #SonlifeIsrael2017

We traveled from the Jordan River to the Dead Sea for lunch. We also spent time going out and “swimming” in the water. It wasn’t really swimming, though. It was more like awkward floating. 

I’m not even sure how to describe floating in the Dead Sea. You really have to experience it for yourself. The water is not really water. It is more of an active chemical reaction. It even has a slimy viscosity to it when you rub it between your fingers. 

The end result of this strange water is that the human body literally floats in it. It is such an odd feeling! You just kind of lay back into the water and that is how you stay. 

There is also a crazy asphalt type mud at the edge and in the Dead Sea. The mud is apparently used as a beauty cream. People pay a lot of money to get ahold of the mud and put it on their skin to make their skin more healthy and to make them look younger. I’m not overly interested in all of that, but I couldn’t resist playing in the mud…
