5k Every Day in the Month of May (Day 27)

TRAIL RUN!! I wanted to get at least one trail run in for my “5k Every Day in the Month of May” and today was that magical day.

Mark Rowe joined me for a 5k today and we decided that since it was so hot out, it would be nice to run under the cover of the trees… so we went for a trail run at Wooster Memorial Park.

This was Mark’s first time doing a trail run and I had not run on those trails in a while. In fact, the last time that I was on those trails it was the middle of winter and I was running at night through the snow and ice in sub-freezing temperature.

This was very different.

I would not say that this was my fastest 5k. We ran 3.1 miles over the river and through the woods, jumping over fallen trees and climbing up and down steep hills while trying to keep our footing on dirt, rocks, and roots. It was awesome. We finished in 40 minutes and 40 seconds with an average pace of 13:07 per mile.

It was fun. I love trail runs.

Tomorrow I plan to run an early morning 5k with my beautiful bride. She has not quite run a 5k yet this year, but tomorrow is the big day!
