The Column for Slapping Judas

There is a column standing outside of a Catholic Church that serves the purpose of being the place where you can take your anger out on Judas. You are supposed to slap or hit the column as if it is Judas. Haha. What a joke. Is this really the proper Christian response to Judas?!
