Temple of Pan

Matthew 16 “Who do you say that I am?” Jesus asks Peter this question near the temple of Pan, located at the highest peak of the Middle East.

Peter says that Jesus is the Christ and Jesus affirms his answer.

Jesus starts the passion week here, turning his back on all pagan worship, giving Peter the keys to the kingdom, and heading straight for Jerusalem without ever turning back.

The temple area was strange. It was neat to look at, but there was definitely an empty feeling at the temple. Nothing but dead, lifeless gods. Jesus, in contrast, is the fullness of the living God.

As a side note, there were several areas that were “Off Limits” because there are active land mines that have not been found since the war (I can’t remember which one). Jodi was pretty adamant that I stay on the path…
