Megiddo

“If you want peace, prepare for war.” That must have been Solomon’s philosophy when he built the fortress at Megiddo. I guess he didn’t really build it, but it looks like he significantly re- built it while he was the ruler of Israel.

We traveled to the top of Megiddo and looked across the landscape of many battles. It was really quite amazing.

The one thing that stuck out to me at this location was how close in proximity so many biblical locations are to one another. While standing near the palace at Megiddo, we could see Mt. Caramel, Nazereth, Samaria, and so many other places.

We also walked through the water system. It took 183 steps down underground, and then a nice little jaunt through a passageway to the place of the spring.
