#MWC E2.9

Jeff shares a song that he is currently recording (to be released later today) called ” I Am A Branch”, written from John 15. He also talks about how God provides for his people! Many times that provision comes in the form of… other people.

Welcome back to the Midweek Worship Connection. I was not able to put an episode online last week because I was actually in Alabama traveling around doing prison ministry, and I was actually in prison when I was supposed to be live for #MidweekWorshipConnection. So that didn’t work out very well.

It is good to be back, and I am excited about today. I’m going to be sharing a song that basically comes from John 15. Jesus is talking about being the True Vine, and his Father is the Vinedresser, and we’re just branches. I’m excited about this song.

One of my goals for 2018 is to record and release a song every month, and this is actually the song that I have been working on in the studio right now. It’s actually going to be released later today. The song is called “I Am A Branch

I Am A Branch (written by Jeff Polen)

Sometimes I feel like I can’t do anything
But I know it’s just because I can’t do anything without You

I am a branch, You are the Vine
I am growing from You, Jesus; my life is flowing from You, Lord
You are the source of abundant life
I am nothing without You, but I am everything in You

If I abide in You and Your words abide in me
I can ask for anything and it will be given me
My only prayer is that my life would bear much fruit
And when this world looks at me all they will see is Your love shining through

If I bear fruit, I have Your word
That You, oh God, will prune me to bring Yourself more glory
It’s not about me, it’s all about You
But you can tell about a tree just by looking at its fruit

If I abide in You and Your words abide in me
I can ask for anything and it will be given me
My only prayer is that my life would bear much fruit
And when this world looks at me all they will see is Your love shining through

The only works I can add to my salvation
Is the sin which You so graciously forgive
But if my life will reach this generation
I need to live the life You created me to live

If I abide in You and Your words abide in me
I can ask for anything and it will be given me
My only prayer is that my life would bear much fruit
And when this world looks at me all they will see is Your love shining through

Sometimes I feel like I can’t do anything
But I know it’s just because I can’t do anything without You

The LORD provides for his people!

As we read through the Exodus story, we come across some pretty crazy characters, and some pretty difficult situations. By the time we get to the later chapters of Exodus, the LORD has already performed the ten plagues in Egypt, the Israelites have already escaped through the parted Red Sea, Amalek has been defeated, and Moses has received the Ten Commandments and other instructions.

It is a wild ride!

Let’s just take a moment to remember some of the key people that God provided at just the right moment.

When Moses was a baby sent down the river in a basket, God provided Pharoah’a daughter to rescue him and raise him.

When Moses fled for his life, God provided Zipporah, who would welcome him and become his wife.

When Moses was asked by God to return to Pharoah to speak with him, Moses claimed he was not a good talker. No worries! God provided Aaron.

When Moses was overwhelmed by the constant judging in the wilderness, God provided his father-in-law, Jethro, to give some much-needed advice.

When Moses needed someone to lead the Israelites into battle, God provided Joshua.

Now here they are, in the middle of the wilderness, and Moses needed a skilled craftsman (or two) to carry out the detailed instructions the LORD had given for building the Temple, utensils, and garments.

Don’t worry, Moses, God’s got you covered!

The LORD said to Moses, “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft. – Exodus 31:1-5, ESV

We need each other! God provides for his people, and many times that provision comes in the form of… other people.

How may God be providing for you today by putting just the right people in your life? Have you recognized this as the goodness and grace of God? Have you thanked him for it, recently? Have you thanked them?

We worship a God who is able to fill anyone he wants with whatever gifts are necessary to advance the Kingdom of God! How has he filled you with his Spirit? How are you using the good gifts and abilities he has given you today?
